Welfare Rights Service
Blackwood offers a comprehensive Welfare Rights Service to all of our tenants and their household members.
The Welfare Rights Team is able to provide advice to tenants who require assistance with the Benefit / Social Welfare system. The service is free, impartial and confidential with both our Welfare Rights Officers able to support tenants with (but not limited to) the following benefits:
- Universal Credit
- Employment & Support Allowance
- Jobseekers Allowance
- Income Support
- Pension Credit & State Pension
- Housing Benefit & Council Tax Reduction
- Discretionary Housing Payments
- Personal Independence Payment/ Disability Living Allowance/ Attendance Allowance
- Carer’s Allowance
- Scottish Welfare Fund/Community Care Grants/Crisis Grants
- All benefits administered by Social Security Scotland – for example:
- Adult Disability Payment/ Child Disability Payment
- Best Start Grants and Food Grants
- Funeral Support Payments
- Scottish Child Payment
- Young Carer Grant
- Job Start Payments
The advice provided may relate to:
- Benefit checks / income maximisation
- Support to make new claims / supersede existing awards
- On going assistance until your enquiry is concluded
- Help to challenge Decisions
