Welfare Rights Service

Blackwood offers a comprehensive Welfare Rights Service to all of our tenants and their household members.

The Welfare Rights Team is able to provide advice to tenants who require assistance with the Benefit / Social Welfare system. The service is free, impartial and confidential with both our Welfare Rights Officers able to support tenants with (but not limited to) the following benefits:

 

 

  • Universal Credit
  • Employment & Support Allowance
  • Jobseekers Allowance
  • Income Support
  • Pension Credit & State Pension
  • Housing Benefit & Council Tax Reduction
  • Discretionary Housing Payments
  • Personal Independence Payment/ Disability Living Allowance/ Attendance Allowance
  • Carer’s Allowance
  • Scottish Welfare Fund/Community Care Grants/Crisis Grants
  • All benefits administered by Social Security Scotland – for example:
    • Adult Disability Payment/ Child Disability Payment
    • Best Start Grants and Food Grants
    • Funeral Support Payments
    • Scottish Child Payment
    • Young Carer Grant
    • Job Start Payments

The advice provided may relate to:

  • Benefit checks / income maximisation
  • Support to make new claims / supersede existing awards
  • On going assistance until your enquiry is concluded
  • Help to challenge Decisions
